About the position

The Assistant Compliance Analyst position at Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. is a full-time role within the corporate HR/Benefits/Leave Department. The primary focus of this role is to ensure compliance with employment-related laws and regulations by researching, monitoring, and auditing company policies and processes. The analyst will collaborate with various departments, prepare responses for external agency requests, and support compliance projects.

Responsibilities

  • Research, monitor, and track employment-related laws and regulations that may affect the Company.
  • Audit Company protocols, processes, and policies against existing employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Identify areas requiring attention on a quarterly, annual, or as-needed basis.
  • Collaborate with other departments on compliance-related matters.
  • Prepare responses for external state agency requests.
  • Monitor Company expansion list and prepare applicable processes.
  • Support Compliance Analyst on specific projects and other applicable tasks.
  • Partner with Project Coordinators and/or Project Supervisor on implementation efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-6 years of Human Resources, Benefits, and/or Leave experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal and state employment law (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FLSA).
  • Knowledge of Federal and state FMLA, paid sick leave, and other leaves-related legislation.
  • Knowledge of Benefits plan compliance (e.g., ERISA, IRS, HIPAA, ACA).
  • Resourcefulness and comfort taking initiative on research.
  • Effective, concise, accurate, and confident written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multi-state experience (California a plus).
  • Experience working with SAP and Kronos.
