About the position

The Field Maintenance Technician position at Lake Worth Drainage District is a full-time role responsible for the maintenance of the District's operational structures and buildings. The technician will perform routine preventative maintenance on water control structures, assist with the installation and maintenance of right-of-way gates, and support facilities and fleet maintenance as needed. This role requires collaboration with other staff and is essential for emergency management response during major storm events.

Responsibilities

• Provides regular maintenance of the District's water control structures, including routine preventative maintenance of equipment and buildings.
• Installs and maintains District right-of-way access gates and surrounding areas, including lubrication of hinges and locks, vegetation treatment, mowing, general maintenance, and painting of gates.
• Supports facilities and fleet maintenance for repair and maintenance of Water Control Gates, Gate Actuators, and assists the District Electrician as necessary.
• Assists fleet mechanics with pick up and delivery of parts and supplies or vehicles and performs minor maintenance and services to District vehicles and equipment.
• Performs right-of-way and facility maintenance duties, including grounds maintenance, minor repairs, painting, and fence repair as assigned.
• Provides support before, during, and after major storm events and emergency situations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Florida Driver License.
• General knowledge of power and hand tools.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to communicate proficiently with staff to relay accurate and timely information.
• Proficient in the use of technology necessary to monitor and track maintenance activities and work orders.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of welding tools and techniques preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and wiring preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanics and vehicle maintenance and repairs preferred.
