About the position

The Assistant Architect position within the New York HELPS program involves overseeing construction and rehabilitation projects for various clients. The role requires coordination of project documents, including drawings and specifications, and collaboration with architectural and engineering consultants. The incumbent will assist senior architects in delivering responsive services to client agencies, ensuring compliance with building codes and architectural standards while adhering to budget and deadline constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the construction and rehabilitation projects for various clients.
  • Coordinate the development of project documents including drawings and specifications with architectural/engineering consultants.
  • Assist the Senior and Associate Architect to deliver services that are responsive to the critical needs of client agencies.
  • Ensure projects are completed within budget and deadlines, requiring extensive knowledge of building, fire codes, and architectural standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Six years of architectural experience in design or drafting on buildings requiring multi-discipline trade involvement, under the direction of a registered architect or professional engineer.
  • An Associate's degree in architecture, architectural technology, construction technology, civil engineering technology, or drafting technology with an emphasis on architecture AND four years of architectural design or drafting experience under the direction of a registered architect or professional engineer.
  • A four-year Bachelor's degree in architectural/structural engineering studies AND two years of architectural design or drafting experience under the direction of a registered architect or professional engineer.
  • A five-year Bachelor's degree in architectural studies or a Master's degree in architectural studies AND one year of architectural design or drafting experience under the direction of a registered architect.
  • An Architect's license, with current registration, from any state or territory of the United States.
