About the position

The Assistant Asset Manager for Affordable Housing at Tripalink plays a crucial role in managing a diverse investment portfolio valued at over $700 million. This position involves overseeing affordable housing projects, conducting financial analyses, and ensuring effective communication between property management and ownership. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about real estate and financial management, with a focus on maximizing property performance and supporting community growth.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing an investment portfolio of over 85 projects across different states.
  • Supervise affordable housing projects related to leasing and financing.
  • Conduct financial analysis of development assets, including creating detailed pro-forma and financial models.
  • Analyze market data to identify trends and prepare reports providing insights at the property level.
  • Review and approve maintenance repairs from third-party property managers or vendors.
  • Manage ownership/property management relationships through regular communication and reporting.
  • Review and finalize annual budgets to ensure alignment with business plan underwriting and market standards.
  • Monitor financial variances and operational performance monthly, guiding action plans for deficiencies or opportunities.
  • Collaborate with outside consultants and communicate financial results to investors and lenders.
  • Oversee cash management processes, including tracking capital expenditures and managing reserve balances.
  • Assist in the disposition process for properties placed on the market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, real estate, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of real estate or financial experience in multifamily housing.
  • Experience with affordable housing, particularly LIHTC.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Appfolio, Juniper Square, and CoStar.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong financial analysis and real estate experience.
