About the position
Saint Mary's College is seeking a part-time Assistant/Associate Adjunct Faculty member to teach KINES 605: Philosophical Basis of Kinesiology in the Graduate Kinesiology Program for Spring 2025. This role involves engaging graduate students in the philosophical foundations of kinesiology, focusing on the relationship between philosophy and physical activity, while promoting an inclusive environment for diverse student backgrounds.
Responsibilities
- Teach the course KINES 605: Philosophical Basis of Kinesiology on Tuesdays from 6:00-9:00pm.
- Engage students in discussions about the nature of philosophy and its relevance to sport and physical activity.
- Facilitate learning on various teaching and coaching philosophies and ethical issues in sport.
- Encourage critical thinking and shared inquiry among students.
- Support and advocate for students of color, women, and underrepresented groups.
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Kinesiology or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in higher education in Kinesiology or a related field.
- Candidates must reside in California.
Benefits
- Salary range of $7,447-$10,308 dependent on qualifications.
