About the position

The Assistant/Associate Dean for Advancement at the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for a comprehensive fundraising program. This role involves overseeing all advancement activities, managing a portfolio of major gift donors, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance philanthropic impact and support the college's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the College's fundraising program.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of major gift prospects and oversee the overall prospect portfolio.
  • Facilitate the Dean's engagement with major donors and prospects, including regular travel for meetings.
  • Lead a major gift team to identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors, ensuring consistent messaging throughout the College.
  • Plan and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the College's advancement program in alignment with university goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with leadership throughout the College to support advancement activities.
  • Oversee alumni and corporate engagement activities to foster connections with constituents.
  • Ensure the College's stewardship program is functioning effectively, including gift documentation and donor recognition.
  • Administer the budget for the advancement office and set policies for the advancement program.
  • Supervise and evaluate major gift officer performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • For Assistant Dean: Minimum of seven years of advancement experience with excellence in fundraising and strategic leadership.
  • For Associate Dean: Minimum of ten years of advancement experience with a proven record in high-impact fundraising.
  • At least five years of supervisory and management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced knowledge of advancement components including development and alumni engagement.
  • Experience managing volunteer groups effectively.
  • Completion of training in academic advancement best practices.
