About the position

The Clark County Water Reclamation District is seeking qualified candidates for the Assistant/Associate Engineer position, which encompasses roles in Civil, Mechanical, Structural, and Electrical engineering. This recruitment aims to fill vacancies in both Construction Management and Design Engineering. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in assisting project management staff by providing engineering design, construction management, contract oversight, and field inspections. The position requires interfacing with District staff across various service groups, utility agencies, consultants, contractors, and other governmental agencies to clarify issues and resolve problems effectively. In the realm of Construction Management, the Assistant/Associate Engineer will be responsible for ensuring contractor conformance to construction documents, resolving contractual and field conflicts, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating construction phase issues. This includes integrating lessons learned into District practices and procedures to enhance overall project outcomes. On the Design side, the role involves assisting project management staff with engineering design, document control, and contract management. The candidate will be expected to read, interpret, and understand construction drawings and specifications, while also applying principles, practices, and techniques of wastewater engineering design and construction methods related to sanitary sewer collection, pumping, and treatment. This position is vital for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the District's engineering projects, ensuring that all work aligns with regulatory standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project management staff in providing engineering design and construction management.
  • Provide contract oversight and conduct field inspections.
  • Interface with District staff, utility agencies, consultants, contractors, and governmental agencies to resolve issues.
  • Evaluate construction phase issues and integrate lessons learned into District practices.
  • Ensure contractor conformance to construction documents and resolve contractual conflicts.
  • Assist in reading, interpreting, and understanding construction drawings and specifications.
  • Apply principles and practices of wastewater engineering design and construction methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or a closely related field for Assistant Engineer.
  • Two (2) years of civil engineering experience for Associate Engineer.
  • Experience in a public agency setting is desirable.
  • Possession of a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment.
  • Possession of a Nevada Engineer-in-Training Certificate is desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in construction management and design engineering.
  • Familiarity with wastewater engineering design and construction methods.
