About the position
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University is seeking a non-tenure track Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor of Arabic. This position emphasizes teaching excellence, curricular innovation, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The successful candidate will engage in teaching Arabic language and culture across various levels, contributing to the university's mission of experiential learning and intercultural competence development.
Responsibilities
- Teach six courses per academic year (three courses each semester) in Arabic language and culture.
- Engage in ongoing curricular and pedagogical innovation.
- Participate in professional development and service activities.
- Support the university's commitment to innovation in teaching and the World Languages Center's vision.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Arabic applied linguistics or a related field by the employment start date.
- Experience teaching Arabic in remote and/or online formats.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with experiential learning methodologies.
- Previous involvement in curriculum development for language programs.
