About the position

The College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University is seeking a non-tenure track Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor of Spanish. This role emphasizes teaching excellence, curricular innovation, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The successful candidate will contribute to the World Languages Center's mission of developing students' intercultural communicative competence through a teaching load of six courses per academic year, alongside professional development and service responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach six courses per academic year (three courses each semester) in Spanish language and Latin American/Latino culture and film.
  • Engage in ongoing curricular and pedagogical innovation.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Contribute to service within the university and community.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Spanish literature, cultural studies, linguistics, or a related field by the employment start date.
  • Experience teaching Spanish language classes at all levels.
  • Ability to teach Latin American/Latino culture and film classes in both Spanish and English.
  • Experience in remote and/or online teaching formats.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish.
