About the position
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University is seeking a non-tenure track Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor of Spanish. This role emphasizes teaching excellence, curricular innovation, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the academic environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the World Languages Center's mission of enhancing students' intercultural communicative competence through innovative teaching methods and experiential learning.
Responsibilities
- Teach six courses per academic year, with three courses each semester.
- Engage in ongoing curricular and pedagogical innovation.
- Participate in professional development and service activities.
- Support the university's commitment to innovation in teaching.
- Foster diverse and inclusive learning environments.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Spanish literature, cultural studies, linguistics, or a related field by the employment start date.
- Experience teaching Spanish language classes at all levels.
- Ability to teach Latin American/Latino culture and film classes in Spanish and English.
- Experience in remote and/or online teaching formats.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish.
