About the position

The University of Minnesota-College of Veterinary Medicine (UMN-CVM) is excited to recruit a Clinical Pathologist to join our dynamic, cohesive, and supportive team of 5 Clinical Pathologists and 2 Clinical Pathology house officers. This appointment is a non-tenure (Clinical) track appointment with an emphasis on clinical diagnostic service and the instruction of DVM students and house officers. The applicant will be joining a Clinical Pathology team that strives to provide the highest quality diagnostic care, research, training, and teaching in a high functioning, collaborative, and supportive environment. The UMN is offering an outstanding opportunity for a clinical (non-tenure) track full time (75-100% appointment) faculty position in Clinical Pathology at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Rank will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. The primary focus of this position will encompass the provision of excellent Clinical Pathology Diagnostic Service (approximately 50%) and Pathology Instruction (approximately 50%) with lesser focuses of Collaborative Research and Outreach. The final effort allocation for these efforts is negotiable based upon the candidate's professional goals and experience. The primary responsibilities upon hire comprises the provision of clinical cytology, hematology, clinical chemistry, and coagulation testing interpretation and clinical instruction to house officers and students. Additional responsibilities include contributing to collaborative research and providing discipline/non-discipline related service to the UMN-CVM and other professional organizations. Additional opportunities within this position include clinical pathology course development, diagnostic flow cytometry support, continuing educational outreach, and comparative clinical pathology support to the UMN research community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent Clinical Pathology Diagnostic Service (approximately 50%)

Requirements

  • DVM/VMD or equivalent veterinary degree
  • ACVP board certification or completed residency training (i.e. boards eligible)
  • Eligibility for Minnesota state veterinary licensure
  • Strong record in diagnostic pathology, teaching, and collaborative scholarship preferred
