About the position

Kean University is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, focusing on Forensic Science, particularly forensic biology. This tenure-track position is a full-time role for the academic year 2025-2026, with teaching assignments potentially at various locations and may include evening and weekend courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, research, and service within the university and community.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Forensic Science, including Introduction to Forensic Science and upper-level courses such as Forensic Biology and Forensic Genetics.
  • Develop and maintain an active research program with potential for extramural funding.
  • Participate in curriculum development and student advisement.
  • Engage in service at the departmental, college, university, and community levels.
  • Utilize a Learning Management System for course delivery and management.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Forensic Science, Biology, or a related field with demonstrated forensic casework.
  • Strong record of excellence in teaching and research.
  • Established independent research record with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience teaching forensic science courses at the undergraduate level.
