About the position
Tougaloo College, a private, four-year, co-educational institution in Jackson, Mississippi, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Psychology. In addition, the faculty member will serve as the Chair of the Department. The appointment will take effect fall 2024 semester.
Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of courses, including Child and Adolescent Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, History and Systems, Experimental Psychology, Research Methods, and Senior Seminar.
- Articulate a vision and strategic plan for the department as Chair.
- Coordinate the execution of the department's educational programs with faculty.
- Schedule courses and assign instructors to courses in consultation with program directors, faculty, and the dean's office.
- Monitor and adjust course registrations and course instructor assignments.
- Review departmental programs for relevancy and enhancements.
- Evaluate faculty and shepherd processes for faculty reappointments and promotions.
- Communicate and address concerns of internal and external constituents on the departmental level.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Psychology.
- Teaching experience at a community college, four-year college, or university.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Strong command in quantitative analysis.
Nice-to-haves
- Grant writing experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with faculty and community members.
