About the position

The University of the District of Columbia is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology. This position involves teaching core undergraduate courses in Psychology, with a focus on critical writing skills and foundational knowledge in Clinical Psychology. The role emphasizes student-centered instruction and collaboration with colleagues, aiming to enhance academic performance and support student development.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Psychology, including Introduction to Psychology, Critical Skills Development, Statistics, Introduction to Clinical Psychology, Personality, Learning, and Cognition.
  • Keep abreast of developments in instructional areas by reading current literature, collaborating with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom student-centered instruction and discussions.
  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers using rubrics and other student-centered approaches.
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
  • Advise and mentor students on academic and career issues, including undergraduate internships in the discipline.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
  • Maintain currency in the use of software and technology in the classroom.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Psychology from an APA accredited program.
  • A minimum of two years of teaching Psychology courses at the college/university level (graduate teaching assistant experience will be considered).
  • Demonstrated evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at discipline-related conferences.
  • Evidence of working with underserved populations both in the classroom and in the community.
  • Demonstrated record of collaborating with faculty colleagues through participation in program, college, and university activities.
