About the position

The College of Education and Human Development invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track position at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor in Early Childhood Education to begin Fall 2025. A successful candidate will be a dynamic and collaborative individual prepared to teach, research, and serve. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to high-quality education, serving all learners, and professional development. The candidate will be expected to engage in scholarly inquiry, gaining and supervising grants, contribute to student learning, and collaborate with colleagues within the department, university, and community. The Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Learning Sciences provides undergraduate courses for educator preparation, multiple master's degree options, a combined master's and certification program, as well as a Ph.D. program. We collaborate closely with the Early Childhood Development Center, a Corpus Christi ISD PK-3 and PK-4 school situated on the TAMU-CC campus. Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the district, we actively support faculty research initiatives at the center. Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Early Childhood Education, including online and in-person formats.
  • Mentor students in research and professional development.
  • Establish a strong research agenda focused on Early Childhood Education, with the potential to secure external funding.
  • Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
  • Contribute to the department, college, and university through committee participation, program development, and collaboration with public schools and community partners.
  • Engage in professional organizations to foster leadership in the field of Early Childhood Education.
  • Design and implement innovative curriculum for early childhood education programs, integrating best practices in both traditional classroom and online settings.
  • Work with university departments and public-school systems to enhance early childhood education initiatives and foster community partnerships.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarship, teaching, and service that meets the standards for appointment at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor.
  • Active research interests in Early Childhood Education.
  • Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
  • At least three (3) years of experience teaching in prekindergarten through primary grades (PK - 3rd Grade) for Assistant Professor rank, and at least three (3) years PK to 3rd Grade + at least five (5) years of full-time university faculty experience including at least four (4) years as an Assistant Professor for Associate Professor rank.
  • Demonstrated dedication to creating a welcoming, collaborative, and respectful academic environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Over 5 years of teaching in early childhood settings, preferably in public schools.
  • Experience in securing grants to support research and educational initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership in program coordination, curriculum development, or department-level initiatives.
  • Experience in designing coursework for face-to-face and online delivery, as well as teaching learners from varying backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with public schools, university departments, and other stakeholders for educational program enhancement.
  • Active participation and leadership in professional organizations at local, state, national, and international levels.
  • Established record of excellence in teaching, research, and service, with potential to procure external funding.
