About the position

The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking applications for a faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Systems Engineering. This role emphasizes a strong commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education, alongside the potential to develop an externally funded research program. The position is set to commence in the fall semester of 2025, and candidates at the Associate Professor level are expected to have a proven record of scholarly achievements.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence.
  • Prepare and teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes.
  • Contribute assessment information and data as requested.
  • Mentor and/or advise undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  • Establish and/or continue an independent line of research.
  • Continue to expand professional influence in the academic discipline through research and/or publication.
  • Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching and research constraints.
  • Teach three (3) classes each academic year.

Requirements

  • A PhD degree or equivalent in Systems Engineering or a related discipline is required prior to employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to produce research and scholarly achievements that enhance the program and discipline.
  • Capability to deliver high-quality teaching using evidence-based practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Teaching and research interests in systems architecture, systems management, risk management, requirements engineering, modeling and simulation, robotic/mechatronic systems, control systems, systems integration, optimization, and system design.
