About the position

The Assistant/Associate Professor position in the Master of Social Work Program is a twelve-month, tenure-track or clinical faculty role focused on teaching, advising, course development, and service within the program and the broader School of Behavioral & Community Health. The role includes responsibilities for scholarship for tenure-track faculty and collaboration in team-teaching, accreditation activities, and curriculum design. The position aims to educate and train social workers committed to anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices.

Responsibilities

  • Development, delivery, and assessment of courses within the MSW program, including both generalized and specialized courses.
  • Assessment of student learning in individual courses as well as within the social work competencies (EPAS 2022) and the curriculum as a whole.
  • Participation in MSW accreditation activities.
  • Development and participation in team-teaching, interprofessional, and collaborative aspects of the program, within the School, the College, and the University.
  • Identification and development of new courses and concentrations as the program grows in response to workforce needs.
  • Quality participation in partnership activities with internal and external partners to ensure the success of the program.
  • Teaching of courses in the program as designated by the program director, including the ability to teach in the online asynchronous format, as well as availability for monthly in-person weekend residencies at Moravian's campus in Bethlehem, PA.
  • Service to the institution, including serving on committees, attendance at faculty meetings and university ceremonies, advising of students, and other items listed in the handbook.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate (e.g. PhD, DSW) in Social Work.
  • A master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • Minimum of two years, full-time, post-licensure practice experience in social work.
  • A current LSW or LCSW in Pennsylvania, or eligibility and willingness to obtain licensure within four months of appointment.
  • Previous post-secondary teaching experience in both online and face-to-face courses.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a multicultural/social justice framework, and a willingness to cultivate anti-racist, diversity, equity, and inclusivity (ADEI) in all aspects of education, advising, and assessment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Evidence of scholarly record or solidified research interests (tenure-track appointment only).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in clinical supervision.
  • Ability to teach in at least three of the following subject domains: Research, Macro social work practice, Clinical social work practice, Healing-centered practice, Social welfare and social policy, Anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion in social work practice, Field seminars.
