About the position

Augusta University's Department of Teaching and Leading is seeking a non-tenure track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to play a crucial role in shaping the future of the MED AU Online program at Augusta University. We are looking for an innovative self-starter who can be vital in collaborating with the Department Chair to coordinate our AU Online graduate program. In this position, you will collaborate with AU Online to refine courses based on best practices and represent the College of Education and Human Development online, significantly contributing to our team and the future of online education. Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach introductory and advanced, graduate-level courses in education (teaching a 4-4 load each academic year). Candidates should be prepared to deliver courses online (asynchronous and synchronous).
  • Conduct and supervise scholarly activities.
  • Serve as the Program Coordinator for our AU Online M.Ed. in Instruction Program.
  • Provide additional service as appropriate to the department, college, university, the community, and the profession.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited university in Curriculum and Instruction, Technology Education, Educational Research, Educational Leadership or a closely related field.
  • For Assistant Professor: Early level career as a faculty member.
  • For Associate Professor: Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher.
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements).
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in online education.
  • K-12 teaching experience.
  • Higher education teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty and to mentor classroom teachers.
  • Proven track record in online instruction in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments on a higher-education level.
  • Familiarity with Brightspace/D2L.
  • Well versed in Universal Design for Learning principles, Community of Practice framework, Authentic learning assessments, Active and generative learning, Data-based continuous improvement of courses and teaching.
