About the position

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice position at Shenandoah University focuses on pharmacy practice and patient care in an ambulatory care setting. The role involves providing patient care for a variety of disease states, particularly chronic diseases, and medication management. The faculty member will also engage in didactic teaching and serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students, contributing to the educational mission of the School of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in an ambulatory care setting, focusing on chronic diseases and medication management.
  • Implement additional patient care services as needed.
  • Serve as a preceptor for IPPE and APPE pharmacy students.
  • Teach didactic courses within the School of Pharmacy's therapeutic modules, patient assessment skills, or case-based laboratory courses.
  • Engage in service and scholarship activities as determined by faculty rank.

Requirements

  • Pharm.D. degree and eligibility for pharmacy licensure in Virginia.
  • In-depth understanding of clinical ambulatory care pharmacy practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and work within innovative pharmacy practice models.
  • Completion of a pharmacy practice (PGY1) residency or equivalent experience in pharmacy practice.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior academic experience in pharmacy education.
  • Additional training such as PGY2 residency or fellowship.
