The Department of Population Health at the University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in Outcomes Research and Healthcare Financing. This role is designed for individuals with exceptional potential and emerging scholarship to enhance the department's research and educational portfolio in health outcomes, health services research, and health finance. The department is looking to fill multiple tenure-track positions for either first-time or late Assistant Professors, and mid-career investigators are also encouraged to apply. Located within the School of Medicine, the Department of Population Health offers a robust interdisciplinary environment in an academic medical center setting. Faculty members are spread across three campuses: Kansas City, Wichita, and Salina. The department serves as the academic home for nationally-ranked, accredited graduate educational programs leading to degrees such as the Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR), and PhD. The department is committed to addressing health inequities in both rural and urban settings through strong partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, health systems, and other stakeholders in diverse communities across the rapidly growing, multicultural Mid-West region. Candidates for this position should demonstrate content expertise and teaching capabilities in health services research, including areas such as utilization management, outcomes assessment, healthcare payment systems, and healthcare financing (including Medicare and Medicaid). Familiarity with state and federal datasets, system-level electronic health records (EHR), or experience using other clinical information systems for research purposes is considered an asset. The department has a strong record of partnership with state and regional health authorities and provides access to exceptional campus resources that support community engagement, quantitative analytics, and health informatics. Opportunities for collaboration are abundant through KUMC's Frontiers Clinical & Translational Science Institute, the KU School of Health Professions, the School of Nursing, the KU Alzheimer's Disease Center, and the KU Cancer Center, which is designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the NCI. Joint or secondary appointments for clinicians are also possible.
