About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director, Administration at Georgia Southern University serves as the chief of staff to the Director of Athletics and Executive Staff. The Assistant Athletic Director collaborates closely with the Director of Athletics on various initiatives, ensuring alignment with the department's goals and overseeing the planning and execution of events.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee large-scale cross-functional projects and initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Director of Athletics (AD) to develop and advance departmental vision and strategic plan
  • Manage official correspondence and communications on behalf of the AD
  • Assist in cultivating and stewarding major gift donors, letterwinners, and sponsors
  • Identify and assess internal and external opportunities, as well as challenges impacting the department
  • Assist in planning, implementing, evaluating, and executing the department's strategic plan, staff development, and special projects
  • Keep the AD informed of current company climate and project statuses
  • Work with team leaders to ensure clarity, efficiency, and success in presentations to senior staff
  • Build strong relationships with employees, overseeing their progress and addressing issues
  • Coordinate department-wide procedures and improve existing processes for efficiency and success
  • Attend executive meetings and deliver progress reports as directed
  • Act as a professional advisor to the AD on departmental activities
  • Facilitate effective teamwork among the AD, executive staff, and Athletics department
  • Assist in managing data collection for decision-making related to strategic planning, staff development, NCAA legislation, and facilities
  • Represent the department at Athletics, Campus, and Community events to enhance visibility and profile, ensuring alignment with mission and values

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Three (3) or more years of related experience
