About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Creative Content at Gannon University will lead media relations for Gannon Athletics, promoting the achievements of student-athletes and teams through various digital platforms. This role involves developing a strategic vision for content creation, managing in-game sports information, and collaborating with other departments to enhance the brand of Gannon Athletics.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead media contact for Gannon Athletics.
• Develop and implement a strategic vision for digital content creation including graphics, videos, and photos.
• Create written content such as game notes, news releases, and feature stories.
• Manage in-game sports information activities including livestreaming and statistics.
• Collaborate with External Relations Units to manage the brand of the programs and department.
• Supervise full-time staff members and student workers.
• Pitch stories to media and maintain relationships with media outlets.
• Conduct media training for coaches and student-athletes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; Master's degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in collegiate or professional athletic media relations and content creation.
• Experience in generating creative content and implementing a content strategy.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and desktop publishing.
• Thorough knowledge of StatCrew/NCAA Live Stats statistical software.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to write game stories and feature stories.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience designing/editing media guides and/or game programs in an intercollegiate sports information environment.
• Basic photography and videography skills.
• Experience managing social media accounts.
