About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Development at Middle Tennessee State University is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for major gift fundraising efforts for the Blue Raider Athletic Association (BRAA). This role includes overseeing the Sapphire Circle, managing fundraising activities, and collaborating with the MTSU Foundation and athletics leadership to enhance donor support for MTSU Athletics. The position requires occasional extended hours for events and special projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, organize, and implement major gift fundraising strategies for the Blue Raider Athletic Association (BRAA).
• Oversee the Sapphire Circle, the philanthropic giving society for MTSU Athletics.
• Track major gift fundraising activities, including solicitations and portfolio reviews.
• Collaborate with MTSU Foundation staff and athletics leadership on fundraising initiatives.
• Manage budget oversight for fundraising efforts.
• Participate in donor trips, athletics events, and BRAA board meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Two years of direct fundraising or related experience in soliciting and closing gifts of $5K or higher.
• Transferable experience in marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, or sales may be considered.

Nice-to-haves

• Three years of direct fundraising experience preferred.
• Experience in soliciting and closing larger gifts is desirable.
