About the position

The Athletics Communications position at Marymount University is a vital role within the Athletics Administrative Leadership Team, responsible for managing the athletics department's communication strategies, website, and social media presence. This position aims to enhance the Marymount Athletics brand through effective content creation and strategic communication, while also overseeing athletic records and managing the Athletics Communications office. The role requires collaboration with coaches, student-athletes, and various external units to ensure a high-quality student experience and promote the university's athletic programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Athletics Administrative Leadership Team
  • Manage the athletics department website
  • Develop and implement communication and social media strategies for Marymount Athletics
  • Create and distribute effective multimedia content to elevate the Marymount Athletics brand
  • Advise coaches and student-athletes on social media and communication strategies
  • Maintain athletic records, Sports Hall of Fame nominations, and statistical files
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Athletics Communications staff, including graduate assistants and student workers
  • Write and distribute press releases and produce printed departmental materials
  • Oversee the live stream of home athletic contests
  • Act as Sport Administrator for club sport programs
  • Co-chair the Athletics Hall of Fame nomination committee and manage event logistics
  • Serve as a University contact for campus communications and national offices
  • Manage the Athletic Communications annual budget
  • Support major athletics events that honor alumni and current student-athletes
  • Maintain athletics branding guidelines and approve all branding for team apparel and social media usage
  • Provide design support for championship recognition and facility branding projects
  • Build relationships and influence at all levels internally and externally
  • Analyze data to identify trends and drive innovation
  • Schedule photography for internal and external communications
  • Maintain partnerships with key professional and industry organizations
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of related experience in Sports Information/Athletic Communications
  • Strong knowledge of college athletics and statistic taking
  • Strong communication, verbal, and written skills
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Knowledge of statistical programs (NCAA LiveStats Genius, Presto, StatCrew)
  • Experience in preparing and managing annual budgets
