About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director of External Operations at Life University plays a crucial role in overseeing and supervising the athletic department's operations to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness across various areas. Reporting directly to the Deputy Athletic Director, this position is responsible for the day-to-day management of facility scheduling and care, sponsorship development, engagement, game day integration, academic support, and eligibility certification. The Assistant Athletic Director will develop and execute strategies that promote collaboration and alignment among these areas, thereby strengthening the university's and department's vision. In this role, the Assistant Athletic Director will plan, administer, conduct, and evaluate all responsibilities with a focus on operational excellence. This includes overseeing the scheduling and communication of all athletic facilities, collaborating with camp partners to ensure efficient usage, and managing facility rentals for outside groups. The position also involves resolving facility-related issues, building and maintaining positive relationships with current sponsors, and seeking out potential partners to generate revenue and meet fundraising goals. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Director will serve as the liaison to campus partners, assist in game day operations, supervise work-study students, and support the academic performance of student-athletes. This includes monitoring class schedules, grades, and eligibility certification. The role also requires planning and executing annual events, processing invoices for department purchasing, and contributing to collective purchasing efforts. The Assistant Athletic Director must thrive in a high-paced environment, as evening and weekend work is required. Responsibilities

  • Plans, administers, conducts, and evaluates all responsibilities with a goal of operational excellence.
  • Oversees the day-to-day scheduling and communication of all athletic facilities, collaborating with camp partners for efficient usage.
  • Manages facility rentals for outside groups, ensuring proper contracts, insurance, and timely payments.
  • Resolves facility issues related to scheduling and function.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with current athletics sponsors.
  • Seeks potential partners to generate revenue and meet fundraising goals.
  • Serves as the department liaison to campus partners and entities wanting to use athletic facilities.
  • Assists in leading the execution of game day operations.
  • Supervises and schedules work-study students for office duties and game operations.
  • Supports academic performance of student-athletes by monitoring class schedules, grades, and eligibility certification.
  • Assists with planning and executing annual events such as the Student-Athlete Banquet and Hall of Fame.
  • Processes invoices for efficient department purchasing and payment.
  • Assists in collective purchasing of office supplies.
  • Works effectively in a high-paced environment under stress, with required nights and weekends.
  • Performs additional responsibilities and special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in a collegiate athletics department
  • Demonstrated ability to solve athletic-related issues under pressure
  • Demonstrated skill in multi-tasking, organization, and planning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Successful record of working with a diverse student, faculty, and staff community.
