About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Football Brand Management plays a pivotal role in enhancing the brand identity of the University of Pittsburgh and its football program. This position is responsible for overseeing the creative services function within the athletics administration, directing a team of artists and creative professionals to produce compelling visual messages that promote the university and its offerings. The individual will manage multiple creative projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all projects adhere to established timelines and budgets while meeting the university's branding standards. In this role, the Assistant Athletic Director will focus on developing and executing innovative marketing strategies across various digital and media platforms, including social media, video, and graphics. The position requires a strong ability to formulate layout designs and presentation approaches, specifying details such as typography, photography, graphics, animation, video, and sound. The Assistant Athletic Director will also be responsible for reviewing and approving art and copy materials produced by staff, ensuring that all creative outputs align with the university's branding objectives. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Director will act as a liaison between creative personnel and internal or external clients, fostering relationships with vendors and freelancers to enhance the creative output. This role involves conferring with various departments to discuss project requirements and coordinating creative activities to ensure that the university's brand is effectively communicated through all marketing channels. The individual will also be tasked with producing visual and creative materials for recruiting activities, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines in collaboration with licensing and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee football social creative services.
  • Manage multiple creative projects from start to finish, determining project objectives and themes.
  • Create sketches or other images, refine concepts, and oversee final production of deliverables.
  • Formulate layout design or presentation approach, specifying details such as style and size of type, photographs, graphics, animation, video, and sound.
  • Ensure that projects adhere to established timelines and budgets, providing ongoing status updates.
  • Review and approve art and copy materials and proofs developed by staff members.
  • Develop and manage relationships with vendors or freelancers.
  • Act as a liaison between creative personnel and internal or external customers.
  • Confer with creative, art, copywriting, or production department heads to discuss client requirements and presentation concepts.
  • Confer with technical directors, managers, crew members, and writers to discuss details of production.
  • Confer with clients to determine objectives, budget, background information, and presentation approaches.
  • Present final layouts to clients for approval.
  • Negotiate with printers and estimators to determine services to be performed.
  • Drive the University brand through digital and marketing channels, communication tools, and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Grow University brand reputation through innovative solutions.
  • Produce and develop visual and creative materials and content for all recruiting activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a related field.
  • Combination of education and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education and/or experience requirement.
  • An equivalent combination of work experience and high-level playing experience may be substituted at the discretion of the University.
