About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Administration is responsible for overseeing the administration of the Athletics department, including the development and communication of departmental policies, financial operations, and human resources management. This role involves collaboration with various divisions to ensure effective budgeting, compliance with university standards, and the management of staff functions. The position also includes supervisory responsibilities for several key roles within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Create, distribute, and communicate departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provide financial reports and analysis, and approve certain expenditures.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resource Division on position management and compensation.
  • Write and update job descriptions, and assist in the hiring process.
  • Promote professional development offerings and coordinate HR-related trainings.
  • Manage departmental on and off boarding materials.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Division on budgeting and budget management.
  • Support internal controls and develop policies and procedures within the business office.
  • Review and approve expenditures and complete ad hoc reporting.
  • Carry out financial benchmarking and analysis.
  • Create and prepare presentations for staff meetings.
  • Review and complete contract processing and take meeting notes.
  • Develop and execute staff functions, including EAF's and committee templates.
  • Oversee Equipment Room Operations and the Equipment Manager.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee travel policies and procedures.
  • Act as the department's liaison to Short's Travel, the official travel partner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 4-6 years of administration, human resource, and/or finance experience required.
  • Familiarity with management and leadership preferred.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and trends and present financial information.
  • Experience with budget management.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
