About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications at Fairleigh Dickinson University is responsible for overseeing all athletic communications and media relations for the Division I Intercollegiate Athletic Program. This role involves ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations while developing effective communication strategies to promote the university's athletic programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer all athletic communications and media relations for the Division I Intercollegiate Athletic Program.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA regulations in all communications.
• Manage the dissemination of information to the media and public regarding athletic events and programs.
• Coordinate press releases, game notes, and other promotional materials for athletic events.
• Maintain and update the athletic department's website and social media platforms.
• Work closely with coaches and student-athletes to promote their achievements and the athletic program as a whole.
• Assist in the organization of press conferences and media events.
• Travel to away games as needed to provide support and coverage.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Three to five years of experience in sports information, athletic administration, journalism, or public relations required.
• Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of Genius Sports-LiveStats and StatCrew statistical programs is essential.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Premiere is required.
• Familiarity with the working press.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience at the Division I level preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
