About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Brand Advancement at the University of Washington is responsible for overseeing the creative initiatives of the Husky Athletics Department. This role involves managing multiple creative projects from inception to completion, ensuring effective communication with internal and external clients, and maintaining project timelines. The position emphasizes the importance of compliance with university and NCAA regulations while fostering a culture of inclusion and community engagement within the athletics department.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the creative project manager, interfacing with internal and external clients including coaches and ICA staff.
  • Develop timelines for project completion and provide status updates throughout the process.
  • Develop and direct processes for requesting, tracking, and improving creative projects.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all creative and content development, managing expectations and clarifying requirements.
  • Mitigate communication breakdowns and resolve issues promptly.
  • Ensure project requests are completed with adequate information for the creative team.
  • Generate and maintain project estimates and prepare for client sign-off.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope and devise contingency plans.
  • Present concepts and completed projects for approval.
  • Maintain records on projects completed with hours committed to each.
  • Manage and supervise creative staff, including freelancers and contractors.
  • Direct creative staff in prioritizing tasks for revenue growth and brand exposure.
  • Ensure staff meets project deadlines and provide support for efficiency.
  • Work with department administration to identify additional resources needed for project goals.
  • Represent the creative services division in department meetings and discussions.
  • Lead production team in developing and executing digital content for web and social media.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in management, business administration, communications, or related field.
  • At least five years of professional experience working in a department of athletics.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite on a Mac OS platform.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Effective project management skills with proven ability to work with various groups to reach a common goal.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships and drive cooperation with diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters Degree and two years working in a creative services unit.
  • Demonstrated understanding of brand management and knowledge of photo, video, graphic design, and broadcast production.
