About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Broadcast and Creative Video at Colorado State University is responsible for leading the creative direction and content for the university's athletics video production. This role involves collaborating with various internal and external groups to identify compelling stories, utilizing advanced video technologies, and enhancing fan engagement through effective digital media content. The position also includes overseeing game-day video production and managing a team of student staff and freelance production crew.

Responsibilities

  • Provide creative direction and content for Colorado State Athletics video production.
  • Collaborate with internal and external constituent groups to identify stories that promote the Colorado State Athletics brand.
  • Utilize existing and emerging video production technologies, institute best practices, and develop unit workflows to produce ample and timely content.
  • Lead the Broadcast and Creative Video Services team, assigning projects and assisting with day-to-day videography projects.
  • Produce and distribute video packages and highlights for external audiences, as well as create videos for ticket, fundraising, and promotional campaigns.
  • Collaborate with marketing staff and other entities on game-day scripts and presentation of the game-day experience.
  • Plan and produce game-day video roll-ins, highlights, and other video pieces during live events.
  • Call the event while on headset communication with the production crew and game-day marketing staff.
  • Effectively use live video production equipment and stats integration in event production.
  • Execute game-day web streaming for Colorado State Athletics.
  • Hire and supervise game-day production crew for various sports events.
  • Participate as a member of the Athletic Department's Senior Staff and provide leadership to the Broadcast and Creative Video Services Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in video production, communications, marketing, business, management, fine arts, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of previous experience in video production/digital media content.
  • Previous experience in NCAA Division I Athletics or similar live production events, including camera crew directing and the use of replays.
  • Knowledge in marketing, multimedia, and technology.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in a variety of software products and video/graphic design programs.
  • Ability to work on projects individually and within a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of applicable NCAA rules and regulations; commitment to the Department's culture of compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse community.

  • Master's degree preferred.
