About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations at Washington Athletics will oversee the daily operations of the business office, including accounting, financial reporting, and analytics. This role is crucial for managing the financial operations of Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) and ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects while providing strategic financial guidance to the department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Associate Athletic Director/CFO with the annual budgeting process for ICA.
  • Develop future year budgeting plans in conjunction with unit leaders and the Senior Associate Athletic Director/CFO.
  • Prepare and submit ICA budget into the University budgeting system.
  • Evaluate strategies and implement continual process improvements for Athletics business operations.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly budget reports for department budget managers.
  • Create monthly reports reflecting current year budget to actuals.
  • Assist with the management of ICA's operational and vendor contracts.
  • Facilitate financial operations meetings with each sports team and administrative unit leaders.
  • Serve as a liaison with the University Finance, Planning, and Budgeting (FPB) office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, sport management or a related area.
  • 4-5 years of related experience in NCAA Division I athletics business office, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Management/supervisory experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Professionalism, composure, and an ability to communicate clearly, diplomatically, and effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in business, finance, accounting, sport management or a related area.
  • Familiarity with Workday Finance or a related enterprise system.
