The Assistant Athletic Director for Communications plays a crucial role in the Athletics & Recreation Department, ensuring that all communications align with the policies and procedures of the department and the university. This position requires adherence to the rules and regulations set forth by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), MAC Freedom, the NCAA, and other relevant authorities that govern intercollegiate athletics. The individual will be responsible for completing all necessary departmental and institutional training and certification programs, actively participating in professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field. In this role, the Assistant Athletic Director will represent the athletic department on various university-wide committees and at meetings, serving as a liaison between the athletics department and the broader university community. A significant aspect of the position involves writing and disseminating a variety of documents, including press releases, newsletters, and marketing materials that promote the university's 25 intercollegiate teams. The individual will also oversee the department's social media networks, creating engaging content such as videos, game day postings, and feature stories to enhance the visibility of the athletic programs. The Assistant Athletic Director will manage all aspects of web streaming for athletic events, ensuring that broadcasting services are professional and utilize the latest technologies. Additionally, the role includes maintaining a comprehensive photo library system, collaborating with head coaches to fulfill student-athlete requests for photographs, and compiling team statistics for all intercollegiate sports. The individual will work closely with coaches to monitor team record books and develop an online resource that is regularly updated. Furthermore, the Assistant Athletic Director will serve on the Athletics Hall of Fame committee, assisting in organizing and executing the induction ceremony, as well as coordinating end-of-the-year athletics awards. The position also requires providing score reporting and other necessary information to various organizations at the national, regional, conference, and local levels. The Assistant Athletic Director will supervise the athletic communications manager and the creative content and digital media coordinator, contributing to the overall strategic direction of the department's communications efforts. Finally, the individual will participate in the athletic department's senior administrative staff council, aiding in the formulation of departmental policies and procedures, decision-making, and general oversight of operations.
