About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Development at Eastern Michigan University focuses on managing the Eastern Athletic Fund (EAF) special events, coordinating game day hospitality for various sports, and overseeing donor stewardship initiatives. This role also involves identifying new prospects and developing into a major gifts officer, contributing to the overall fundraising efforts for the athletics department.

Responsibilities

• Manage all Eastern Athletic Fund special events and game day hospitality for football and basketball.
• Oversee EAF donor stewardship initiatives and manage donor renewal processes.
• Develop and manage relationships with coaches, staff, alumni, and donors to grow the Eastern Athletic Fund.
• Cultivate relationships with prospects and donors of EMU Athletics.
• Execute the annual fundraising calendar with sport-specific giving initiatives.
• Coordinate with the Athletics External Relations team on EAF initiatives.
• Implement a comprehensive gift acknowledgment program in collaboration with the university foundation.
• Participate in department operations and external team meetings.
• Assist with administrative tasks and represent the department in the community.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Three years of progressively responsible work experience in development, marketing, or communications.
• Ability to manage, plan, organize, and set priorities effectively.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working in a non-profit organization or university setting preferred.
