About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations, Facilities & Events at St. Lawrence University is a full-time, 12-month position responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, game management, scheduling, and facility management within the Athletic Department. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, coaching staff, and external partners, to ensure effective management of athletic events and facilities. The position emphasizes the importance of diversity and inclusion in creating a welcoming environment for all students and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee home contest operations and management of men's & women's ice hockey programs.
  • Develop plans for effective setup, breakdown, staffing, training, and technological oversight for events.
  • Stay current with ECAC and NCAA policies, rules, and regulations related to Division I Ice Hockey.
  • Collaborate with event managers and other staff to prepare for home contests.
  • Produce and manage fan engagement initiatives for home contests.
  • Oversee facilities and event management for 33 intercollegiate sports and special events.
  • Plan and oversee the day-to-day events of the venue managed by event managers.
  • Hire, supervise, and manage student workers and oversee payroll processes.
  • Coordinate facility scheduling and room reservations for athletic facilities.
  • Collaborate with Facilities Operations and Safety & Security for facility maintenance and risk assessment.
  • Supervise facilities, equipment services, and operations staff.
  • Coordinate with the Department of Health for Summer Sports Schools permits and preparation.
  • Hire and supervise Summer Sports Schools staff and directors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Excellent communication skills with coaches, administrators, students, and community members.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with poise and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills with follow-up and follow-through abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of NCAA, ECAC, Liberty League, EISA, CSA, IHSA rules and regulations.
  • Prior leadership and supervisory experience in college athletics.
  • Proactive thinking with interest in developing new ideas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Facility management experience at the collegiate level preferred.
  • Broadcast management and production experience preferred.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $58,500 - $63,000 annually.
  • Full-time (12 months) position.
