The Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Licensing at Butler University will play a pivotal role in leading the marketing, licensing, and gameday experience for Butler University Athletics. This position is designed to enhance the overall experience for both student-athletes and fans, ensuring that all marketing and promotional efforts align with the university's goals. The Assistant Athletic Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of External Operations, focusing on creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere during athletic events. This includes overseeing marketing strategies, promotions, social media engagement, and game operations, all while working closely with the university's licensing efforts to maximize revenue generation. A significant aspect of this role involves developing and executing promotional plans for Butler's athletic teams. This includes coordinating with coaching staffs, managing graphic design and desktop publishing tasks, and executing advertising campaigns. The Assistant Athletic Director will also be tasked with enhancing ticket sales, establishing partnerships, and creating ancillary programs that contribute to revenue generation. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a strong understanding of technology are essential for success in this position, as the candidate will need to foster relationships with various stakeholders and provide exceptional customer service to fans. In addition to marketing responsibilities, the Assistant Athletic Director will direct game entertainment at home athletic events. This includes script writing, music selection, video coordination, and managing spirit groups to ensure a lively and engaging atmosphere. The role also encompasses managing the trademark and licensing program for Butler University, which involves approving artwork, creating merchandising opportunities, and generating revenue through royalties while promoting the Butler brand in the retail marketplace. The Assistant Athletic Director will supervise two Marketing Assistants, coordinate the undergraduate marketing internship program, and oversee the Dawg Pound student section, the Cheerleading Team, and the Butler Dance Team. Furthermore, the position requires collaboration with University Marketing on various projects, including schedule posters, billboards, and digital advertising.
