About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Media and PR at Minnesota State University Moorhead is responsible for managing the department's sports information and public relations efforts. This role includes overseeing media coverage, marketing strategies, and communication plans to enhance the visibility and reputation of MSUM Athletics. The position also involves managing a team, coordinating event operations, and developing strategic PR campaigns to promote the university's athletic programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all-inclusive coverage of assigned sports, including media coverage, website management, and game day responsibilities.
  • Coordinate publicity and communications for assigned sport programs, including nominations for awards and honors.
  • Produce and oversee editorial content for various media and promotional materials related to intercollegiate athletics.
  • Coordinate home event operations and media coverage for assigned sports, including live stats and media credential requests.
  • Develop and implement marketing and communication strategic plans for MSUM Athletics, enhancing public awareness and visibility.
  • Create and implement strategic PR campaigns and media strategies to support the image of MSUM.
  • Manage the department's online presence and PR tools, including digital media and outreach programs.
  • Oversee and manage the Athletics Department's Marketing and Communications employees and interns, including performance management and hiring.
  • Maintain respectful and professional interactions with personnel, visitors, and students.

Requirements

  • Experience in creating and facilitating strategic marketing communications plans.
  • Experience with marketing, branding, and public relations.
  • Advanced writing and editing skills.
  • Strong negotiation, verbal, written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with marketing communications metrics and media relations.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
