About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for NIL Development at Syracuse University will play a crucial role in advancing the external Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives for Syracuse University Athletics. This position is essential for managing and monitoring the growth, innovation, and organizational changes necessary to keep Syracuse University Athletics at the forefront of NIL fundraising standards. The individual in this role will be responsible for building relationships and educating key stakeholders about the evolving NIL landscape, ensuring that the university's athletics department is well-positioned to leverage these opportunities effectively. In this capacity, the Assistant Athletic Director will partner closely with the Deputy Athletic Director for Business Development and the Executive Director for the ‘Cuse Athletics Fund to establish and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, donors, corporate partners, and other constituents. This includes educating external stakeholders on the NIL landscape in intercollegiate athletics and the specific opportunities available through Syracuse University Athletics. The role will also involve developing and delivering presentations and informational materials to promote understanding and engagement in NIL initiatives. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Director will serve as a key liaison to Syracuse's officially endorsed NIL collectives and other outside entities partnering with Syracuse University Athletics in the NIL space. This includes collaborating with these partners to create and enhance NIL opportunities for student-athletes while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines. The position will require monitoring industry trends and best practices to ensure that Syracuse University Athletics remains at the cutting edge of NIL fundraising standards, implementing innovative strategies and processes to foster growth and adaptability within the NIL program, and identifying and pursuing NIL-related fundraising opportunities. Overall, this role is pivotal in shaping the future of NIL initiatives at Syracuse University, requiring a strong commitment to the mission and values of the university and its athletics department.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Deputy Athletic Director, Business Development and the Executive Director for the ‘Cuse Athletics Fund to establish and maintain relationships with business leaders, donors, corporate partners, and other constituents.
  • Educate external stakeholders on the evolving NIL landscape in intercollegiate athletics and the specific opportunities available through Syracuse University Athletics.
  • Develop and deliver presentations as well as informational materials to promote understanding and engagement in NIL initiatives.
  • Serve as a key liaison to Syracuse's officially endorsed NIL collectives and other outside entities partnering with Syracuse University Athletics in the NIL space.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in sports management, business administration, marketing, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in development, fundraising, athletics administration, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of NCAA regulations, state laws, and institutional policies related to NIL.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including business leaders, donors, and corporate partners.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Innovative mindset with the ability to drive organizational change and growth.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Syracuse University and its athletics department.
