About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Revenue Generation at Radford University plays a pivotal role in enhancing the financial sustainability of the athletic department through various revenue-generating initiatives. This position is primarily focused on generating revenue through corporate partnerships, ticket sales, and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the athletic department's corporate sponsorship program, which includes not only the acquisition of new sales but also the renewal of existing accounts, activation of sponsorships, and the achievement of sales goals. Building and maintaining strong relationships within the community is essential for success in this role. In addition to managing corporate sponsorships, the Assistant Athletic Director will collaborate closely with external operations units and senior leadership to develop strategic insights and creative approaches to sponsorship and ticket sales opportunities. This collaboration aims to drive revenue growth and enhance the overall experience for sponsors and fans alike. The position also involves overseeing the activation of all corporate accounts from the initial commitment through to execution, ensuring that all sponsorship agreements are fulfilled effectively. Networking within the community is a critical aspect of this role, as the Assistant Athletic Director will be expected to actively seek out new sales leads and opportunities. Furthermore, the position will involve working with campus partners, local community members, and sponsors to develop NIL opportunities that provide additional resources to student-athletes. The Assistant Athletic Director will also be expected to take on additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Athletic Director or their designee, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the broader goals of the athletic department.

Responsibilities

  • Generate revenue through corporate partnerships, ticket sales, and Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.
  • Manage the overall athletic department corporate sponsorship program, including new sales and renewal of existing accounts.
  • Oversee activation of all corporate accounts from commitment through execution.
  • Collaborate with external operations units and senior leadership to drive strategy and creative development of sponsorship and ticket sales opportunities.
  • Network within the community to create new sales leads.
  • Work with campus partners and local community members to develop NIL opportunities for student-athletes.
  • Accept additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or Bachelor's degree plus education, training, and experience that equates to a Master's degree.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in advertising or sports/event sponsorship.
  • Proven track record of generating new business and retaining clients.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with internal and external constituents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Corporate sales experience within the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred.
