About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Revenue Generation is a pivotal role within the Athletics Administration at Radford University, tasked with the critical responsibility of generating revenue through various channels including corporate partnerships, ticket sales, and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities. This position is essential for the overall success of the athletic department's corporate sponsorship program, which encompasses new sales initiatives, the renewal of existing accounts, and the activation of sponsorships. The Assistant Athletic Director will be expected to achieve sales goals while fostering consistent relationship building within the community, ensuring that the athletic department remains a vital part of the local landscape. In this role, the Assistant Athletic Director will collaborate closely with external operations units and senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives, insights, and creative development of sponsorship and ticket sales opportunities. This collaboration is crucial for growing revenue and enhancing the visibility of the athletic programs. The position also involves overseeing the activation of all corporate accounts from the initial commitment through to execution, ensuring that all sponsorship agreements are fulfilled to the satisfaction of both the sponsors and the university. Networking within the community is a key aspect of this role, as the Assistant Athletic Director will be responsible for actively creating new sales leads and opportunities. Additionally, the position will require working with campus partners, local community members, and sponsors to develop NIL opportunities that provide additional resources to student-athletes, thereby enhancing their collegiate experience. The Assistant Athletic Director will also be expected to accept additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Athletic Director or their designee, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the overall mission of the athletics department.

Responsibilities

  • Generate revenue through corporate partnerships, ticket sales, and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.
  • Oversee the athletic department's corporate sponsorship program, including new sales and renewal of existing accounts.
  • Activate corporate accounts from commitment through execution.
  • Collaborate with external operations units and senior leadership to drive strategy and creative development of sponsorship and ticket sales opportunities.
  • Network within the community to create new sales leads.
  • Work with campus partners and local community members to develop NIL opportunities for student-athletes.
  • Accept additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Athletic Director or designee.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or Bachelor's degree plus education, training, and experience that equates to a Master's degree.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in advertising or sports/event sponsorship.
  • Proven track record of generating new business and retaining clients.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with internal and external constituents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Corporate sales experience within the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred.
