About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Sales and Service at Grambling State University plays a crucial role in the athletics department by overseeing ticket sales and ensuring excellent customer service for all athletic events. This position is responsible for selling tickets, reconciling revenue collected from ticket sales, and managing cash control processes. The Assistant Athletic Director will work closely with the ticket office team to maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring that all financial transactions are processed efficiently and accurately. This role requires a strong understanding of ticket sales operations, particularly using the Ticketmaster host system, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. In addition to ticket sales, the Assistant Athletic Director will lead the ticket seller team, balancing cash and receipt drawers at the end of each shift, and preparing for game day ticket sales by organizing necessary supplies. The position also involves coordinating sales and parking for athletic events, maintaining up-to-date sales reports, and reconciling game income. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cash management, customer service, and ticket sales, with a commitment to professional development in the field of athletics ticketing. This position is a full-time role that requires flexibility in working hours, including weekends and potential travel. The Assistant Athletic Director will also be expected to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the athletics department at Grambling State University.

Responsibilities

  • Selling tickets for all athletic events
  • Recording the revenue from all athletic events
  • Processing ticket sale transactions via ticket window, mail, and telephone
  • Obtaining operational knowledge of Ticketmaster host system in great detail
  • Reviewing or performing balancing, depositing, and reporting of daily ticket office receipts, as required
  • Creating and distributing ticket office sales reports
  • Leading ticket seller
  • Balancing cash and receipt drawers with Ticket Manager at the end of shift
  • Working efficiently under high pressure and producing accurate results in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintaining up-to-date daily/weekly ticket sales reports
  • Reconciling all game income including processing payments, maintaining files and records of invoices and payments from patrons using Excel
  • Coordinating athletic events sales and parking at venue
  • Being efficient in Ticketmaster Archtics ticketing system
  • Participating in professional development webinars for continuous learning with ticketing in athletics
  • Preparing for ticket sales at university venues by arranging petty cash bags, folders, and supplies needed for game day ticket sellers
  • Overseeing units of the ticket office
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or related field
  • Two or more years of experience with cash management
  • Effective written/oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Advanced knowledge of computerized ticket sales
  • Great customer service experience
  • Ability to count, receive, and distribute money
  • Ticketmaster experience is required
  • Strong organizational and general math skills
  • Supervisory experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in marketing or related business field
  • Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics
