About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director - Internal Operations at Thiel College plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily activities of all sports and staff, ensuring compliance with NCAA bylaws, PAC bylaws, and institutional policies. This position is responsible for managing various aspects of the athletic department, including facilities requests, departmental budgets, and the overall student-athlete experience. The Assistant Athletic Director will work closely with the Director of Athletics and other campus partners to enhance academic success and retention among student-athletes, while also coordinating events and maintaining the athletic facilities calendar. In the realm of compliance and student success, the Assistant Athletic Director will provide direct oversight of education, interpretation, monitoring, and enforcement of policies to ensure adherence to Thiel College, NCAA, and PAC regulations. This includes supporting the completion of required NCAA reports and student-athlete surveys, managing recruitment and retention data, and coordinating academic performance information for the athletic staff. The role also involves developing and administering academic enhancement strategies aimed at increasing student retention and academic success. The position also encompasses facilities management, where the Assistant Athletic Director will assist in coordinating high-quality athletic department events and managing the athletic facilities calendar for both Thiel College and outside groups. In terms of business operations, the Assistant Athletic Director will maintain and manage departmental budgets and game contracts, ensuring that all financial aspects of the athletic department are handled efficiently. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Director will serve as a member of the Director of Athletics Leadership Team, following all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA, PAC, and Thiel College, and performing other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. This role is integral to the success of the athletic department and the overall student-athlete experience at Thiel College.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct oversight of education, interpretation, monitoring, and enforcement to ensure compliance with Thiel College, NCAA, and PAC policies and procedures.
  • Support the completion of required NCAA reports and student-athlete surveys.
  • Manage and track athletic department recruitment, enrollment, and retention data.
  • Coordinate academic performance information and mid-semester academic progress reports for the athletic staff.
  • Work with campus partners to develop and administer academic enhancement strategies that increase student retention and academic success.
  • Assist with and coordinate high-quality athletic department events.
  • Maintain & manage the athletic facilities calendar for Thiel College and outside groups.
  • Maintain & manage departmental budgets.
  • Manage game contracts.
  • Serve as a member of the Director of Athletics Leadership Team.
  • Follow all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA, PAC, and Thiel College.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience working in college athletics at an NCAA institution or conference office.
  • Competence in athletics management and leadership, with an understanding of student-athlete development.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working with NCAA systems and FrontRush.
  • Self-motivated with strong communication skills.
  • Solid organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to excellence and pride in work.
  • Adherence to all NCAA, Presidents Athletic Conference, and institutional guidelines, policies, and rules.
