The Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance at Florida State University plays a crucial role in ensuring adherence to NCAA and ACC regulations within the Department of Athletics. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of NCAA and ACC legislation, as well as the ability to apply, implement, and monitor these rules across various areas, including ethical conduct, personnel, amateurism, recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, benefits, and playing and practice seasons. The Assistant Athletic Director will work closely with the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and will be responsible for evaluating and detecting infractions, monitoring compliance, documenting processes, and developing policies and procedures to uphold the integrity of the athletics program. In this role, the Assistant Athletic Director will coordinate and conduct office monitoring, education, and training initiatives related to assigned bylaws. This includes preparing and conducting rules education initiatives, compiling and drafting waivers for submission to the NCAA and/or ACC Conference, and reporting, investigating, and filing violations. The position also involves serving as the primary compliance contact for assigned sport teams and administrative units within the athletics department, creating and implementing comprehensive rules education and monitoring plans, and fostering a commitment to compliance among coaches, student-athletes, and staff. The Assistant Athletic Director will also be responsible for maintaining the FSU Compliance Website and developing the social media presence related to FSU Compliance Operations. This position requires collaboration with other offices on campus to ensure compliance with all NCAA, ACC, and University rules and regulations, as well as continual monitoring and evaluation of compliance systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency. The role demands strong communication skills to conduct rules education meetings and respond to interpretive inquiries regarding NCAA and ACC legislation and University policies.
