About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance at Miami University is responsible for ensuring adherence to NCAA, MAC, and NCHC regulations. This role involves advising and monitoring compliance efforts, educating various stakeholders, and managing the eligibility and financial aid processes for student-athletes. The position supports the mission of the University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by promoting ethical conduct and sportsmanship within the athletic program.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, coordinate, monitor, and verify compliance with all NCAA requirements.
  • Educate various constituencies of the University and the community regarding NCAA/MAC/NCHC regulations.
  • Work with the institution's registrar, faculty athletic representative, and NCAA Eligibility Center to certify requirements for student-athletes' eligibility.
  • Complete and monitor rosters/squad lists for all Division I sports teams, including financial aid.
  • Educate and monitor playing and practice seasons, including CARA logs, summer leagues, and competition dates.
  • Administer the Student-Athlete Guidelines and Drug Test Consent forms to all student-athletes.
  • Assist with investigations and reporting of suspected regulation violations.
  • Oversee and monitor the department's name, image, and likeness (NIL) program.
  • Create educational programming for student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
  • Manage staff and oversee the education of compliance assistants and interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and NCAA regulation-related experience.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make independent, informed decisions in a demanding environment.
  • Excellent communication skills across multiple constituencies.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • 2-5 years of full-time experience in an NCAA Division I athletics compliance setting.
  • Experience with management/supervision of staff.
