The Assistant Athletic Director/Retail Management position at Northern Illinois University (NIU) is a full-time role responsible for overseeing the Athletic Department's retail outlets. Responsibilities

  • Oversee revenue generation through online retail sales, in-house retail shops, and special events.
  • Maintain sales inventory and record keeping for auditing purposes.
  • Work closely with the Athletic Business Office on retail accounting practices.
  • Ensure measures are in place to uphold the brand's reputation.
  • Monitor customer service quality and implement improvements as needed.
  • Supervise part-time staff in the retail area, including scheduling and training.
  • Attend departmental meetings and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in any field or concentration including general studies.
  • Two years of experience in a retail environment.
  • One year of supervisory experience in a retail environment.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles, customer service, and basic mathematics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or similar field.
  • One year of collegiate equipment or retail manager experience.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and local and state regulations related to purchasing, sales, and cash handling.
