About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Medicine position at Roxbury Community College is a full-time role that reports directly to the Director of Athletics. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Director will oversee strength and conditioning training to enhance athletes' strength and prevent further injuries. This role encompasses a variety of administrative duties, assisting the Athletics Director with the daily supervision of intercollegiate athletics. The Assistant Athletic Director will lead the Sports Medicine services, setting a positive tone and culture within the Athletics Department. They will work to improve the quality of care for student-athletes, ensuring they can recuperate quickly and optimize their performance and overall health. The position requires extensive interaction with students and coaches, necessitating the ability to engage confidently with a diverse population. Key responsibilities include providing daily coverage for all NJCAA teams during practices and games, developing and implementing health and safety policies, and overseeing the strength and conditioning program. The Assistant Athletic Director will also assist in monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes, coordinate travel arrangements, and manage health records and documentation for injuries and treatments. This position is active in nature, requiring continuous movement and effective communication with various stakeholders, including students, medical professionals, and coaches.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor practices and games to ensure the safety of student-athletes.
  • Evaluate injuries and provide therapeutic intervention, rehabilitation, and treatment.
  • Oversee strength and conditioning training to enhance athletes' strength and prevent injuries.
  • Assist the Athletics Director with daily supervision of intercollegiate athletics.
  • Develop and implement policies and programs to promote health, safety, and performance of student-athletes.
  • Provide daily practice and game coverage for all NJCAA teams.
  • Assist in reviewing and monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for student-athletes.
  • Manage health records and documentation for injuries and treatments.
  • Maintain communication with health-care-related departments on campus.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in athletic training required.
  • 2-4 years of previous experience in athletic training required.
  • Certification by BOC in Athletic Training and as a Licensed Athletic Trainer by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health required.
  • Certification in Emergency Cardiac Care Certification (CPR/AED) required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
