About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director will support the Director of Athletics in managing all aspects of the athletic program, ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines and regulations. This role involves fundraising, community engagement, and public relations to promote the athletic program effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Selection Committees for coaching applications.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with the athletic department staff.
  • Represent the college at Region VI, NJCAA meetings when applicable.
  • Assist with maintaining the college's membership in the NJCAA and related conferences.
  • Assist in the preparation of the EADA Survey.
  • Process athletic eligibility forms and reports for NJCAA and Kansas Jayhawk Junior College Conference.
  • Conduct periodic eligibility checks of athletes during competition.
  • Arrange for all post-season athletic contests and inform coaches of related rules and regulations.
  • Prohibit ineligible athletes from competing in contests.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Athletics and Sports Information Director to approve athletic contest schedules.
  • Arrange for dressing quarters of officials at home contests.
  • Coordinate transportation for teams for out-of-town contests.
  • Assist with the approval of purchase order requests from coaches.
  • Keep records of athletic budgets and inform coaches of their balances.
  • Issue requisitions for athletic expenditures as needed.
  • Ensure meal arrangements for teams on the road.
  • Arrange housing accommodations for teams when necessary.
  • Cooperate with other Student Services activities.
  • Notify the Business Office regarding received athletic equipment and supplies.
  • Work with the Business Office to check and authorize payment of athletic charges not covered by insurance.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Buildings and Grounds to prepare athletic facilities before contests.
  • Handle checks for officials, security, and workers for home contests.
  • Coordinate half-time activities and deposit game receipts according to regulations.
  • Manage the sale and printing of sport tickets.
  • Submit detailed income reports from ticket sales to the Business Office.
  • Collaborate with Athletic Booster Clubs and ensure coaches work through the Athletic Director's office for contacts with these clubs.
  • Develop and supervise fundraising, community liaison, and public relations activities.
  • Ensure compliance with PCC guidelines for logos and social media accounts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in intercollegiate athletics (Director of Athletics, Assistant Athletic Director, or head coach) preferred.
  • Previous administrative and/or management experience in financial, human resources, or program management at the college level required.
  • Strong fundraising and public relations skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in community engagement and public relations within an athletic context.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and NJCAA regulations.
