About the position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Event and Facilities Operations at the University of Texas at Dallas is responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, and execution of athletic events and facility management. This role involves supervising maintenance staff, managing event logistics, and ensuring compliance with NCAA rules and university policies. The position emphasizes customer experience and requires strong leadership and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage events at various athletic facilities including soccer fields, baseball field, softball field, and tennis complex.
  • Act as a liaison between the department and internal or external customers.
  • Focus on customer experience, logistics, scheduling, and supervision/training of support staff.
  • Oversee game management and event setup/breakdown.
  • Hire third-party services for restroom maintenance of outside complex.
  • Handle all Facilities Maintenance work orders.
  • Assist with budgeting decisions and purchasing related to event management.
  • Develop and implement revenue-generating activities for facility use.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for select visiting programs, vendors, and university personnel.
  • Manage facility projects, including contract management and project oversight.
  • Assist in developing and implementing short and long-range plans for facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with university training policies and standards for all users of the fields.
  • Compile and submit reports as required by management.
  • Participate in various committees, professional trainings, and industry conferences.
  • Maintain confidentiality on all sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in athletic administrative functions.
  • Knowledge of NCAA/conference rules and legislation.
  • Event management experience.
  • Athletic budget development and management experience.
  • Supervisory experience and employee training skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 years of related experience and/or training in essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge and commitment to NCAA Division II rules.
