About the position

Troy University is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer within the Department of Athletics, specifically overseeing Baseball and an additional sport to be determined. As an NCAA Division I FBS institution in the Sun Belt Conference, Troy University is committed to providing high-quality care to its student-athletes. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist the Associate Director of Athletics for Athletic Training in delivering comprehensive health care to student-athletes participating in various athletic programs. This role encompasses a supervisory function in all phases of athletic training within a traditional college setting, ensuring that student-athletes receive the necessary support for their health and performance needs. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will be responsible for providing athletic medicine services during team practices and competitions, which may require travel. This includes the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses sustained by student-athletes. The position also involves maintaining medical records for all assigned athletes, designing and implementing rehabilitation programs, and managing the athletic training room, including the maintenance and storage of supplies and equipment. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work collaboratively with coaches, athletic trainers, physicians, and physical therapists to create a supportive environment that promotes the well-being and performance of student-athletes. Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic medicine services for team practices and competitions, including travel as required.
  • Provide prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation for injuries and illnesses sustained by student-athletes.
  • Maintain medical records for all assigned student-athletes.
  • Design and implement pre- and post-injury rehabilitation programs for student-athletes.
  • Assist in the daily management of the athletic training room, including maintenance and storage of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in organizing and administering the athletic training facility.
  • Provide computer records of athletic injuries, illnesses, and their treatments.
  • Assist with insurance-related issues.
  • Work effectively in a cohesive staff environment with high emotional intelligence and effective communication skills.
  • Participate in special projects initiated by the Team Physicians or Associate Director of Athletics for Athletic Training.
  • Ensure all assigned tasks follow University, Sun Belt Conference, ATI, and NCAA rules.
  • Supervise Masters Athletic Training students in CAATE-accredited Athletic Training Program and/or athletic training aides.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Athletics for Athletic Training.
  • Provide onsite comprehensive and coordinated care for athletes, including preventative solutions/interventions and sport enhancement training.
  • Independently manage relationships with affiliates by maintaining a positive work atmosphere and effective communication with all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree from a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training Program.
  • Active BOC Certification, in good standing.
  • Current Certification in CPR & AED and First Aid.
  • Eligible for Athletic Training Licensure in the state of Alabama.
  • One to three years post-graduate professional experience, preferably in Division I athletics.
  • Experience with baseball preferred.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one by the first day of employment, with a good driving record.
