About the position
The Assistant Athletic Trainer at St. Xavier University will support the Head Athletic Trainer in providing medical care and coverage for twelve intercollegiate sports. This role involves travel for selected sports, particularly football and baseball, and includes maintaining injury records, developing rehabilitation strategies, and conducting physical examinations for student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Assist with providing medical care and coverage for twelve intercollegiate sports.
- Travel and provide athletic training coverage for selected sports, emphasizing football and baseball.
- Maintain comprehensive injury, treatment, and rehabilitation records.
- Develop rehabilitation and strengthening strategies for treatment, prevention, and off-season periods.
- Handle pre-participation physical examinations for all student-athletes.
- Attend departmental and athletic training staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer/Administration.
- Provide medical coverage for scheduled practices and home events.
- Update daily injury records and complete follow-up forms.
- Coordinate rehabilitation for athletes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- NATABOC certification as an athletic trainer.
- Illinois Licensed or eligible before start date.
- 2+ years' experience at the collegiate level.
- CPR and First Aid certified and meet the education minimum standards of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
