About the position

The Assistant Athletics Director, Marketing & Fan Experience at DePaul University plays a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and engagement of the university's athletic programs. This position is aligned with the mission of the Department of Athletics and operates within the guidelines set forth by the NCAA, the BIG EAST Conference, and DePaul University. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist in the development and execution of comprehensive marketing plans and gameday presentations for assigned Olympic sports. The Assistant AD will work diligently to achieve attendance and ticket revenue goals through strategic marketing programs, initiatives, promotions, and fan experiences. In this role, the Assistant AD will develop and implement a marketing strategy that encompasses promotions, ticket sales, game experiences, community engagement, social media outreach, merchandise sales, and email campaigns. The position also involves supporting sponsor activations and video board operations, as well as engaging with the campus community to foster a vibrant athletic culture. The Assistant AD will collaborate closely with coaching staff to ensure that marketing efforts align with departmental and team objectives. Additionally, the Assistant AD will oversee the Blue Crew, DePaul Athletics' official student group, ensuring their active participation in university events and meetings. This role requires a proactive approach to enhancing student engagement and attendance at sporting events, as well as managing logistics for student transportation to games. The Assistant AD will also be responsible for recruiting and training student workers, managing the marketing internship program, and ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations regarding donations and ticket orders. Regular analysis of marketing initiatives will be essential to measure effectiveness and drive continuous improvement in fan engagement and revenue generation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing, promotions, ticket sales, and game experience strategies for assigned sports programs.
  • Support sponsor activations and video board operations.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to align marketing efforts with departmental goals.
  • Measure and analyze marketing programs for effectiveness and impact.
  • Oversee the Blue Crew, DePaul Athletics' official student group, and ensure their participation in University Athletic Board meetings.
  • Lead initiatives to increase student engagement and attendance at sporting events.
  • Manage logistics for student transportation to basketball games.
  • Recruit and train student workers for the marketing department.
  • Oversee the marketing student internship program and game day staffing.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA regulations regarding departmental donation requests and group ticket orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of proven success in marketing, revenue generation, or live event production, preferably at the NCAA Division I level.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA and University rules and regulations as they apply to intercollegiate athletics.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Ability to lift marketing materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and methodologies in marketing and community outreach as they apply to intercollegiate athletics.
  • Basic working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Demonstrated experience in working in a diverse urban and/or intercollegiate athletics environment.
